Arrive into Delhi
Welcome to Vardhman's "Elephant Safari Rajasthan"!
On arrival in Delhi, you will be met and transferred by Vardhman's
representative to your hotel. DELHI, the capital of kingdoms and
empires is now a sprawling metropolis with a fascinating blend
of the past and the present. It is a perfect introduction to the
composite culture of an ancient land. A window to the kaleidoscope
- that is India. Relax for a while and later proceed on a city
tour of Delhi.
OLD DELHI - Visit Red Fort, built in 1648 by Mughal Emperor Shahjehan,
Jama Masjid, one of the largest Mosque of India, Raj Ghat and
Shanti Vana, the cremation sites of Mahatama Gandhi and Jawaharlal
Nehru. Also drive past Chandni Chowk, shopping centre of Old Delhi.
Enjoy the cycle rickshaw ride from Jama Masjid to Chandni Chowk.
NEW DELHI - An extensive sight-seeing tour of New Delhi would
include a Visit Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Lakshminarayan Temple,
a modern Hindu Temple, Parliament House, Government Secretarial
Building and Connaught place, the shopping centre of New Delhi.

Day 2: Delhi - Mandawa
This morning after breakfast drive to Mandawa. Upon arrival at
Mandawa check into your hotel. Later proceed for city tour of
Mandawa.
Visit Mandwa, found in 1755 by Thakur Nawal Singh and still the
home of his descendants. See beautiful frescoes, havelis and mansions.
Mandawa castle, one of the finest castles of Rajasthan, is now
a hotel and house of collections of armories, costumes of ancestors,
canons from 1820, ancient coins, numismatic collection and many
other interesting items, preserved in a museum. A walking tour
of the painted 'havelis' of some of the leading business families
of the country.

Day 3: Mandawa - Bikaner
After breakfast drive to Bikaner. Upon arrival at Bikaner
check into your hotel.
Later visit Bikaner
Bikaner is named after its founder Rao Bikaji in 1488. Long before
this, the city was a trade center on the caravan routes from Africa
and West Asia. Bikaners dominant features are rippling sands
and abundant sunshine. The city stands on an elevation, enclosed
by a 7 kms. wall, which can be entered from 5 gates. Bikaner City
is bolstered by imposing walls and has a 16th century fort housing
old palaces, temples and mosque. Founded by Raja Rai Singh, the
fort is distinguished by its long range of 37 pavilions, a line
of balconies and aerial windows of varying designs.
Also visit Lallgarh Palace, the museum, Bhanda Sagar Jain and
Deshnoke Rat temple.

Day 4: Bikaner
Morning visit Deshnok Karni Mata Temple: The temple is an important
place of pilgrimage, with pilgrims being disgorged every few minutes
from buses. Before the temple, is a beautiful marble facade with
solid silver doors donated by Maharaja Gaj Singh. Across the doorway
to the inner sanctum are the repousse (raised relief) silver doors
- one panel shows the goddess with her holy charges at her feet.
An image of goddess is enshrined in the sanctum. There are special
holes around the temple courtyard to fascinate the rats' movements,
and a wire grille has been placed over the courtyard to prevent
the birds of prey and other predators consuming the holy rodents.
Afternoon visit Camel Breeding Farm.

Day 5: Bikaner - Jaisalmer
Today after breakfast drive to Jaisalmer. Upon arrival in Jaisalmer
check in at your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.

Day 6: Jaisalmer
After breakfast proceed for full day sightseeing tour of The Golden
City - Jaisalmer. It is in the heart of the Great Indian Desert.
Its temple, fort and palaces are all built of yellow stone. The
city is a mass of intricately carved buildings, facades and elaborate
balconies. Visit the JAISALMER FORT - The oldest living Fort in
the world.
Evening visit Sam Dunes with camel ride.

Day 7: Jaisalmer - Jodhpur
Today after breakfast drive to Jodhpur. Upon arrival at Jodhpur
check into your hotel. Afternoon proceed for the city tour.
Visit the fort , Jaswant Thara, Mandore Gardens. Rest of the day
at leisure.
Overnight: Hotel
Day 8: Jodhpur - Kumbhalgarh
On the day 8 of your tour drive to Kumbhalgarh and upon arrival,
check-in at the hotel.
Afternoon visit Kumbhalgarh Fort.

Day 9: Kumbhalgarh Kumbhalgarh-Ranakpur Temples-Udaipur
This morning after breakfast drive to Udaipur visiting enroute
Ranakpur temples.
Fatehpur Sikri - The impressive sandstone fortress was built in
the 16th century and only occupied for a few years before being
abandoned, leaving the buildings in virtually perfect conditions.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Relax for the remaining part
of the day.

Day 10: Udaipur
City tour of Udaipur
Boat Cruise (at your own cost) on Lake Pichola
Visit the City Palace, Jagdish Temple, drive around Fatehsagar
Lake, Sahelion ki Bari (Queen resort for her friends) and Bhartiya
Lok Kala Mandir (Folk Art Museum)
Boat curise on Lake Pichola 4km long and 3km broad, surrounded
by splendid hills, Palaces, temples bathing ghats and embankments
Overnight: Hotel
Day 11: Udaipur - Chittaurgarh -Kota
Drive to Kotah visiting enroute Chittaurgarh. On arrival, check-in
at the hotel.

Day 12: Kota - Bundi - Ranthambhore
Drive to Ranthambhore visiting en-route Bundi. Bundi is most famous
for its baoris (step wells) as there are many impressive ones.
On the top of the hill is majestic Taragarh Fort of Bundi, the
interesting fort is worth exploring for hours. The fort has many
reservoirs, which are annually emptied flooding the streets leading
down to the city.
On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Relax for the remaining part
of the day.

Day 13: Ranthambhore - Jaipur
Morning jeep safari to view the wildlife (IMP NOTE:Sanctuary remains
close from Jul. to Sep.)
Afternoon drive to Jaipur and upon arrival check, into your hotel.

Day 14: Jaipur
City tour of Jaipur
This morning you will experience the wonders of this magical pink
city, as you proceed on a tour of Amber fort (optional: Elephant
Safari). Later visit the Jagmandir or the Hall of victory glittering
with mirrors, Maharaja's City Palace and the Observatory. Drive
past Hawa Mahal or the Palace of Winds and through the rose pink
residential and business areas of Jaipur.

Day 15: Jaipur - Fatehpur Sikri -Agra
Today you drive to the former capital city of Emperor Akbar
On to Agra
Your exciting day begins with a tour, starting with a visit to
Fatehpur Sikri. Then continue onward to Agra and check into your
hotel.

Day 16: Agra - Delhi
City tour of Agra
Early in the morning visit Taj Mahal (Closed on every Friday) during
sunrise and return to the hotel for breakfast. Later proceed on
a city tour of Agra.
Visit Red fort & Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula. Later you will visit
a marble gallery - the flagship store in Agra which offers an excellant
range of white marble, fashionable wear & exotic wooden articles,
truly a one stop shop!
Later in the afternoon drive back to Delhi International airport
to board the flight for your onward journey to back home with sweet
and unforgettable memories of "Elephant Safari Rajasthan"
escorted by Vardhman Vacations.
